13th November 2025, Bremen: Two exceptional students from the City University of Applied Sciences in Bremen, Germany (Hochschule Bremen – HSB), have been awarded scholarships through Lomar’s Achim Boehme Scholarship for the current academic year.

Jinky Pagilagan from Lubong in the Philippines and Lennart Jacob Bünemann from Bad Salzungen in Thuringia, Germany, are both enrolled in the International Shipping and Chartering (ISSC) degree programme, and are both in their final year of studies.

The Achim Boehme Scholarship, established in memory of the late Lomar CEO Achim Boehme, aims to empower promising young individuals pursuing careers in global shipping and maritime management.

Nicholas Georgiou, CEO of Lomar said: “It’s inspiring to watch Jinky and Lennart continue to grow and develop through their academic studies. Through our scholarship we are offering financial and professional support that we hope will enable both students to become our industry leaders of the future.  Their progress represents exactly what the Achim Boehme Scholarship stands for: a blend of hard work, talent, curiosity, and a genuine passion for shipping. We are proud to accompany them on this journey and to continue to recognise the legacy of Achim, who is sadly missed but never forgotten.”

"We are indebted to the continued generous support from Lomar, which is fundamental for the growth and development of these students undertaking our ISSC degree," said Prof. Dr. Ilknur Colmorn, Head of the International Bachelor's Degree Programme in Ship Management – Nautical Sciences (ISMN) at HSB. "Shipping is an incredibly demanding profession, however this is only possible for some students given the generous support of Lomar and the Achim Boehme Scholarship."

The Achim Boehme Scholarship, managed in close partnership with Hochschule Bremen, continues to provide not only financial support but also opportunities for practical experience through internships and mentoring within Lomar’s international network, helping to prepare students for the dynamic realities of the maritime sector.

Since its inception in 2021, the Achim Boehme Scholarship has supported a growing number of students at Hochschule Bremen, who are pursuing degrees in International Ship Management – Nautical Sciences B.Sc. (ISMN) and International Shipping and Chartering B.A. (ISSC), honouring Achim Boehme’s enduring connection to the city and his lifelong commitment to mentoring emerging talent in shipping.
